Interest Negotiation – “Getting to Yes
Conflict happens! Yet conflict can also be avoided if you are guided by the right frameworks and models. Interest negotiation is an approach that shifts a negotiation from one based on position (having the characteristic of only one potential outcome) to one based on interest (having the characteristic of more than one way.)

In this day long workshop we will explore the various styles of managing conflict, examine the “Getting to Yes” approach, and plan for and conduct a live negotiation using the 5 steps for getting to YES!

Intentional Project Management
Did you recently get thrown into a project manager role? Have you been a project manager for a while, but just can’t understand why your projects keep breaking down? Is project management in your organization more like project MANGLEMENT?

You’re not alone. With changes in business processes over the past 20 years, most organizations have become highly projectized. The spin-off of this is that all of us in today’s business place are at least part-time project managers – often with little to no formal project management education or training.

Intentional Project Management changes all that.  Through two days of immersion in the best practices in the field, you will leave confident, empowered, and ready to take ANY project head on, and change the course of projects in your organization.

Project Management for Training Professionals
Business training and consulting professionals assist others with their projects and complete their own learning-related projects all the time. But they often lack the project management background and expertise to plan and manage the effort the way a project professional would. The result is they end up being the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type of endeavor filled with pain, time delays and cost overruns.

In either a one or two day format, we can teach you the terms, empower you with the tools, and enable you with the methodology to totally transform your training and development projects. We have expertise in both training and development AND project management, so we’re comfortable talking your language and teaching you project jargon and methodology to enhance your learning enterprise.

This program will transform your organization and make your life easier at the same time!

Flying Starship Simulation
To compete in today’s business environment, companies have to be successful on several fronts. The Flying Starship Simulation places participants in one of nine manufacturing roles during the first two productions runs of a factory. The “Starships” built by the company have been a huge success so far and the factory’s customer will purchase as much quality as can be produced.

The challenge of coordinating the work system to satisfy a customer with high quality standards pushes the organization to its limits. After measuring its results, the organization is launched on a process to redesign itself in order to satisfy its customer and employees.

Based on a variety of data gathering and analysis–from financial results to the work system to the ‘people side’- the organization moves towards a high performance orientation. Emphasis is placed upon understanding and redefining work in response to customer requirements, addressing quality of work life and job satisfaction issues, and the value of developing effective measures in support of a whole systems approach to work redesign.

Make a Difference Listening
Think you know all there is to know about listening? You might be surprised. And the hurry up rush rush life style we create for ourselves doesn’t exactly create the ideal conditions for listening to occur. The impact is that our personal relationship suffer, our productivity at work decreases, and we end up in a vicious cycle of nothingness as we pursue everything and end up doing nothing really well.

Make a difference listening changes all that. It tunes up your listening as you learn some things you didn’t know you didn’t know about the most precious skill of listening. Maybe it’s time to adjust those personal priorities more in line with your core values.

What do you need to say ‘no’ to so that you can say ‘yes’ to the really important people and relationships in your life?

What would you need to change if you wanted your listening to make a difference?

Value Pricing: How (and Why) to Transition from the Billable Hour
Are you operating your business based on the billable hour? Think that’s the only way to go about it? In this session we discuss a better way to structure your business operations – one based on the value you provide rather than time you spend on a project or service. Your customers will love it as they realize their desired outcome and no longer have to “watch the clock.” You will love it knowing you can conduct business that improves the service to your customers and better leverages your time.

In this one day workshop we will compare and contrast the billable hour vs. value pricing, explore the transition in mindset and business structure necessary for value pricing, and practice using key tools and forms to facilitate the use of the value pricing model.

You will learn how to generate more profit, serving fewer customers who are more willing to pay for your services!

Creating the Future
With due thanks to Michael Gerber (in his magnificent book ‘The E-Myth Revisited ) it’s just not good enough any more to be a good business technician. To survive in the next 30 years you’re going to have to learn how to be good at business as well.

Small business in the US is making the same metamorphosis that has been made in all other forms of business. The reaction of entrepreneurs to these changes will fall into three groups:

  • those who bury their heads in the sand and refuse to recognize that change is taking place
  • those who allow changes to ‘happen to them’ and are tossed and turned by the tide
  • those who recognize that those changes represent a springboard filled with opportunity for the future

In this workshop, we use either a 1 or 2 day format to teach you the 8 Strategies for generating more profit in less time. During each strategy we expose you to useful exercises for transforming business and how you work with your team. You will learn ways to regain control of your business and restore your work-life balance.

Conducting Effective Focus Groups
Now more than ever, companies are trying to maximize their marketing research dollars and understand what drives customer satisfaction – looking to get information quickly and cost effectively.

Using a focus group means conducting a group interview that uses the synergy of the group to provide data in response to a particular topic. Focus groups are useful in discovering what people think and how they feel about something.
Invest a half-day in this workshop and learn how to design the study, develop questions, arrange logistics, conduct the focus group and analyze results.
