Looks like it’s been a while since my last post. Progress moves slowly when you’re looking for the right “wingman” to provide WordPress support. I wasn’t at all happy with the wordpress.com site that I was working with. It provided a good forum for practice, but that’s about it. The latest high-falutin’ tech stuff is a real challenge for someone who sits on the cusp between Boomer and Xer. And it’s a real challenge finding someone who can provide the right support at the right time at the right cost. After several months of searching, I finally found my lead WordPress Wingman.
Meet Kenny Younger, a local generation Yer from Des Moines, Iowa. If you can find the right Yer with work ethic and integrity, you’ve really got something on your hands from a tech support standpoint. Kenny is just that, and I intend to keep him plenty busy – with my stuff and with yours. So far, Kenny has risen to the call of switching my domain to a new host, serving as my site host, webmaster and all around tech troubleshooter in very satisfactory fashion. None of this has been easy, but Kenny sees things through to the end.
It is daunting to say the least to navigate the winds of technological change and leverage all the potential today’s internet has to offer. You have to find the right wingmen, and women. To that end, I’ve started a new category called “stuff I’ve learned that I can share with you.” The purpose of this category is to save you a few painful steps along the way that I’ve trodden, that with any luck, you won’t have to.
I’m thrilled to be back blogging and in conversation with you again. Drop me a line and let me know what you’ve learned lately. With luck, it might even save me a step or two. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a high tech wingman, your first step is to call Kenny.
